'Ourselves'- Personal Landmarks
Duckling Class have had an excellent start to their school life, they are beginning to make good friends and have enjoyed exploring their new classroom and all the fun things to play with. We are very proud of how well they have settled in and it is lovely to see smiling, happy faces coming into class each morning.
We are currently exploring our learning environment and learning through play. We have a home corner in the classroom, a post office in the shared area and a construction site is on its way to the outside area. We are enjoying learning new songs like 'Mr Clickety' and hearing exciting stories. Duckling are trying hard with writing their names and learning our letter sounds. We are looking forward to writing and following instructions for making fruit salads, which is linked to Health and Fitness week in October and our fruit tasting sessions.
Duckling have made a good start to their school life in maths with many being able to count to 10 and above. We will be carrying on with our counting skills and writing our numbers this term. We will also be comparing height, shoe size and hand size which is linked to our topic.
At the moment we are exploring 'Ourselves', learning parts of the body, looking at how we have changed and exploring our senses. We will also be looking at our families and important things that have happened to us.
As part of getting used to our surroundings we will be exploring the school and local landmarks. We will be looking at places important to us, our homes, the park and school. To help the children with their learning we will be visiting Avebury Stone Circle, which will be an exciting and wonderful experience.
Once again, I would like to say well done to Duckling Class for such a fantastic start to school and I'm looking forward to all the fun things that are coming up this term.
Please feel free to pop in if you have any questions.
